Se pare c\u0103 primul contact al acestei minunate ma\u0219ini cu publicul larg din Rom\u00e2nia ar fi avut loc \u00een anul 1841. Prilejul l-a constituit prezen\u021ba la Bucure\u0219ti a artistei de circ Karolina Paukert (este men\u021bionat\u0103 \u0219i cu numele de Carolina Pakert), \u00een programul acesteia figur\u00e2nd o demonstra\u021bie de curse cu velocipedul. Pe afi\u0219ul publicitar al spectacolului <em>\u201ddat cu \u00eenvoirea Oc\u00eermuirii\u201d<\/em>, al\u0103turi de demonstra\u021bia <em>\u201dveosipetei Karolina\u201d <\/em>era lansat\u0103 \u0219i o invita\u021bie adresat\u0103 celor prezen\u021bi \u00een public de a participa la o <em>\u201dfug\u0103 mare cu Madam\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Din 1841 p\u00e2n\u0103 prin anii 1880, referiri cu privire la velocipede \u0219i velocipedie sunt foarte rare\u2026 Dac\u0103 \u00een acea perioad\u0103 marea majoritate a oamenilor simpli, \u021b\u0103rani, muncitori, ba chiar \u0219i unii intelectuali vedeau un pericol \u00een practicarea oric\u0103rui sport (cu at\u00e2t mai mult \u00een mersul pe <em>\u00a0\u201do a\u0219a b\u00e2zdiganie\u201d)<\/em>, nu acela\u0219i lucru se poate spune despre mul\u021bi intelectuali care au promovat \u0219i sus\u021binut sportul \u00een general \u0219i bine\u00een\u021beles \u0219i ciclismul. Poate prima recomandare de specialitate din \u021bara noastr\u0103 cu privire la practicarea velocipediei a f\u0103cut-o dr. Iacob Demeter Felix, un mare sus\u021bin\u0103tor al practic\u0103rii gimnasticii, exerci\u021biilor fizice \u0219i masajului, dar \u0219i a ciclismului. Anticip\u00e2nd avantajele mersului cu bicicleta \u00eenc\u0103 de la primele contacte cu ma\u0219ina de alergat, \u00een lucrarea sa intitulat\u0103 \u201dTractat de igien\u0103 public\u0103 \u0219i poli\u021bie sanitar\u0103\u201d (1870, 1889), aduce argumente \u0219tiin\u021bifice referitoare la beneficiile pe care le aduce practicarea pe scar\u0103 larg\u0103 a mersului pe biciclet\u0103, indiferent de v\u00e2rst\u0103, \u0219i a sportului \u00een general, a activit\u0103\u021bilor \u00een aer liber.<\/p>\n<p>Recomandat\u0103 sau nu, practicarea mersului cu bicicleta \u00een acei ani (pe scurt, ciclismul, de\u0219i e mult spus!) nu era chiar floare la ureche. A merge pe biciclu \u00een anii 1870 nu era o activitate la \u00eendem\u00e2na oricui, din cel pu\u021bin dou\u0103 motive: pre\u021bul ridicat al unei astfel de ma\u0219ini \u0219i abilit\u0103\u021bile sportive absolut necesare utiliz\u0103rii acesteia. Ocazional\u0103, prezen\u021ba bicicli\u0219tilor pe str\u0103zi st\u00e2rnea de cele mai multe ori mirarea sau uneori chiar frica publicului larg. Pentru marea majoritate era vremea c\u00e2nd velocipedele \u0219i biciclurile erau ni\u0219te curiozit\u0103\u021bi ale tehnicii, ele fiind pentru neini\u021bia\u021bi doar atrac\u021bii ce f\u0103ceau obiectul spectacolelor de circ. \u0218i de aici, fire\u0219te c\u0103 aceia care mergeau pe ele erau (cum altfel?)\u2026circari! Un exemplu este englezul Murflison, membru al trupei franceze de circ \u201dJean Gauthier\u201d, care a prezentat \u00een anul 1874, \u00een cadrul spectacolelor oferite la Bucure\u0219ti \u0219i Pite\u0219ti, acroba\u021bii pe un biciclu din lemn. Unii autori \u00a0\u00eel men\u021bioneaz\u0103 pe Murfilson ca fiind cel care ar fi ar\u0103tat primul \u201d<em>velociped\u201d <\/em>(n.a. cel mai probabil este vorba de un biciclu) popula\u021biei bucure\u0219tene, aspect controversat av\u00e2nd \u00een vedere c\u0103 exist\u0103 date care atest\u0103 prezen\u021ba acestora pe teritoriul Rom\u00e2niei \u00eenainte de anul 1874.<\/p>\n<p>Fire\u0219te c\u0103 \u00eencet, \u00eencet, mai cu voia, mai cu de-a sila, biciclurile au cucerit ora\u0219ele \u021b\u0103rii\u2026\u00a0 \u00cen 1870, \u00een presa local\u0103 din Arad este semnalat primul velociped din ora\u0219, av\u00e2nd ro\u021bile din fier \u0219i cu obad\u0103 din lemn.<sup>\u00a0 <\/sup>\u00cen ora\u0219ul Sebe\u0219 (jude\u021bul Alba) \u00een 1880 putea fi v\u0103zut pedal\u00e2nd un oarecare Ferdinand Erlich, mare pasionat de cicloturism al vremurilor. Un biciclu care a circulat \u00een jurul anului 1868 \u00een ora\u0219ul Baia Sprie \u0219i care se pare c\u0103 a fost \u00een proprietatea unui farmacist sau po\u0219ta\u0219 este expus la Muzeul de Istorie \u0219i Arheologie din <a href=\"http:\/\/ro.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Baia_Mare\">Baia Mare<\/a>. Exist\u0103 date referitoare la faptul c\u0103 \u00een 1882, biciclul este folosit ca mijloc de locomo\u021bie la Bac\u0103u de c\u0103tre un excentric, salariat al fabricii de h\u00e2rtie \u201dLetea\u201d. La Muzeul de Istorie \u0219i Arheologie din Bra\u0219ov este de asemenea expus un biciclu, fabricat cel mai probabil \u00een jurul anilor 1870. De asemenea la Muzeul Ora\u0219ului Bucure\u0219ti se odihne\u0219te unul dintre primele bicicluri care au str\u0103b\u0103tut str\u0103zile Capitalei. Tot \u00een Bucure\u0219ti, la Muzeul tehnic Dimitrie Leonida, poate fi admirat un biciclu foarte asem\u0103n\u0103tor cu celebra \u201dMaterna\u201d a marelui ciclist D. Dumitrescu.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201d(\u2026) la Pite\u0219ti, ceva mai t\u00e2rziu, a ap\u0103rut un velociped construit de un me\u0219ter din localitate. Avea o roat\u0103 gigantic\u0103 \u00een fa\u021b\u0103 \u0219i una mic\u0103 \u00een spate. Era construit parte din lemn, parte din fier, iar ro\u021bile, \u00een locul \u0219inelor de fier, aveau cauciucuri masive (ca la tr\u0103surile de alt\u0103dat\u0103). Velocipedul a disp\u0103rut f\u0103r\u0103 urm\u0103\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201d\u00cen cronicile vremii se pomene\u0219te de existen\u021ba unor asemenea bicicluri (cu o roat\u0103 gigantic\u0103 \u00een fa\u021b\u0103 \u0219i una mic\u0103 \u00een spate) la Turnu Severin, Bac\u0103u, Sighi\u0219oara, Media\u0219, apoi la Craiova \u0219i \u00een alte ora\u0219e.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u0218i a\u0219a, c\u00e2te una, c\u00e2te una, \u201dma\u0219ina de alergat\u201d a cucerit Rom\u00e2nia\u2026<\/p>\n\t                <ul class=\"easy-image-gallery
